Clearing out? WHAT BLASPHEMY IS THI-/Coughs. I mean, why would you ever want to do something like that?

In all seriousness, I actually have a good enough idea of what books I have that surprises are really rare [a feat considering I have 2,000+ books]. -shrugs-

Though, you have reminded me that I probably should actually set up a spread sheet or something and take an actual inventory sometime.

OP here!

....because I still have IT textbooks from 1998 that are definitely not worth the paper they're printed on anymore (nor were they worth the money that went into the courses, apparently, since I ended up in an IM-related career instead). Plus all the CDs from Microsoft with the Windows 98 utilities, etc. Yeeeeeaaaaaahhh those binders aren't much use to me anymore. Which is one of the things I regret not turfing. I also haven't really looked at my bookshelves in about five years, and my memory is definitely not what it used to be, unfortunately.

I have managed to download most, if not all, of my hardcopy books (the fiction, at any rate) in ebook format. Though I have read somewhere, in order for it not to be piracy, you have to have (meaning, keep) an actual physical copy of the book in question. IDK. Anyway, I downloaded a big package of ebooks, but have not had a chance to match them up with what I have on the shelves, thus my taking stock. That, and, we're getting the 1-800-GOT-JUNK people in pretty soon, so it's time to man up.....Not just for the books. There is loooooooads of obsolete electronics lying around the place that really, really, has to go, as well. (Though that can't go with the GOT-JUNK people.)

I was actually joking about the 'HOW COULD YOU?!' bit. There are tons of reasons to get rid of books, and frankly? I have a few that - if they weren't so old - I'd probably recycle.
