I personally think of all the SuperWhoLock-whatever juggernaut, Sherlock crosses easily with any one other fandom, because it's a modern day settling with no fantasy or sci-fi elements. Such settling are far easier to cross with sci-fi or fantasy, because half the story is how the characters of the nonsci-fi/fantasy settling react to the sci-fi/fantasy one.
It's when you cross sci-fi and fantasy things get messy, as usually the sci-fi setting views the unusual elements from a scientific POV, while a fantasy settling view them as magic.
(For the record, out of SuperWhoLock, I feel the weak point is trying to cross SPN and Doctor Who, because SPN has magic, monsters, angels and demons, while Doctor has had things that look like those but can be explained by science.)
