I can only reread through the first seven volumes. (I was actually rooting for Light, I don't even know why. I think just because L annoyed me.)

Same here. I found L boring and annoying. His "quirkiness" actually ruined the story for me. Light was an asshole too, but at least he was less annoying.

Same here. A friend of mine wants to rewatch it with me, and I'll do it because I made her sit through Madoka, but I am dreading it. I loved DN when it came out, but now I can't stand it.

I'm the same way. The arcs that followed L's are sooooo boring that it killed my interest in the entire series.

I never did officially finish reading or watching DN. I know how it ends and all but for me the series should have ended with L's death.

[Picture is the logotype of the manga/anime "Death Note". It features a gloomy font, with the letter "T" as a cross, and above it and in the middle of the picture, there is a skull surrounded by a sort of halo (or a glowing donut). It has elegant corners.]

When this first came out, this was one of my favorite things ever. I wasn't super-fannish about it, I just enjoyed it a lot. But now I can barely re-read it, and I don't understand why, it's about the only thing I lost interest in this quick.

Death Note was never even close to what the hype made it out to be.

Maybe because it's a series with schemes and plots and things in? Fun the first time around, but not necessarily the most interesting thing to re-live, when you already know everything that will happen?

I've been slowly collecting the manga for the past few years and am on Volume 7 now, but I feel like it'll only become interesting again once I get to the parts that were never transferred to the anime. The rest is just nothing new.

Eh. You made it farther than me. My interest died as soon as L entered the picture, and anyway they killed him off in favor of two replacements (whatever their names were...Mello and Jello? I don't know). Lame. The story would have been much more interesting had they left them out.

I know precisely why I can't reread it: Light. I spent the entire thing being angry at him and his cronies and waiting for him to die, the impossible arrogant mess of a character. Once I got what I wanted, I don't want to go through that again.

Which is a shame because I remember the good guys fondly.

It's the same for me, Anon, even though I enoyed the entire manga. Including Mello and Near's arcs. I don't know why. I used to love it dearly and wrote loads of fic for it, but now I wouldn't rewatch it. It's not like it repulses me or anything, I just feel I wouldn't have as much fun because I know how it ends :(

A) It was quite honestly a good one-and-done read, not any real reread value.

B) The movies were better and had the more satisfying ending. Yeah, I said it.
