Girls can have/be neckbeards too. Sexist.

Yes, and men can be called cunts, but that doesn't make cunt not a gendered insult, see?

Many European countries don't consider it a gendered insult. nor is it that bad of a curse word.

Oh, I know. I'm british myself, and I love saying cunt, but people will often tell me that it is a gendered insult. I don't consider it to be so, but in the context of my example I'm talking about places like the US, or wherever those guys come from.

nor is it that bad of a curse word.

That's relative, though. Some people think it's no big deal, but I know others who find it lots more offensive than the other common swear words used here in Britain. (On topic, I have no idea why some see it as more offensive and whether it has anything at all to do with it being a gendered insult or not. But yeah, not everyone thinks it's not 'that bad' even if others are relaxed about it.)

Yeah, in my experience (UK) it's far, far more widely used in reference to guys, and with about as much impact as the word 'asshole' in the US.

So? What's the point of this thread? To make a list of gendered insults? To imply that there are gendered insults for men as well as women, so insults like "neckbeard" are just as bad as "cunt?"

Trying to start "men are just as bad off as women, see" wank, I think.

Do you really have such a problem with discussions about sexism directed at men?

Do you feel this takes something away from other feminist causes?

If this was about gendered insults against women, and a guy came in with "But men have these issues" that man would be derailing, and a doucebag.

I think she was joking/being sarcastic.

That's... a distinct possibility. Oops on me.

I was half joking. Women can have neckbeards too, which means you are ignoring the existence of hirsute women. Most people don't or wouldn't even consider that, so I wouldn't consider "neckbeard" an female gendered insult.

But, I think the female equivalent of "neckbeard" is something more like "hambeast."
