I think that once ANY pairing gets away from just fanfic/fanart/meta and starts insisting that they're actually, no really this guys, for SERIOUS, canon, why can't you see it, OMGOMG, they get really annoying. A loud portion of destiel shippers are there, but honestly, there's a wincest fraction that's just as bad. Just try to stay away from the crazy.

I agree. I also think, though, that going beyond canon and thinking the actors are together and bashing their real life girlfriends is even worse than that. And I've yet to see that from the Destiel camp, though maybe I've just managed to avoid those particular crazies.

Wincest =/= J2 moron, and if you haven't seen terrible ugly shit from the "cockles" fans (your namesmushes are moronic btw) then you haven't managed to avoid the crazies, you are just biased and blind and probably afraid to look in the mirror.

I don't even ship Cockles but it's the Wincest and J2 fans who have threatened the lives of the J's girlfriends and wives for years. Also, there is a ton of overlap between Wincest and J2 fans, particularly the older fans. I've never seen a Destiel or Cockles fan (and yeah I hate the smushes too) ever intimidate Danneel or Vicki. On the contrary, they seem to really celebrate the wives, almost to the point of fawning over them. Most newer fans tend to do that, actually, and since most older fans like Wincest AND J2, that's saying something.
