I remember when Cars came out I was out of town so didn't have much access to the internet. I went and saw it while on my trip and was like "wow what a great movie". And then when I came back and saw that a lot of people were really unimpressed I was just... legitimately super confused.

I don't think it's really one of Pixar's lesser efforts. I don't think it's one of their BEST EVER, but it's just as solid as most of their other work and I really love it.

Even Cars 2 doesn't deserve the vitriol it gets. I would agree that it's definitely Pixar's weakest film, but it was still an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours. And yeah it was a cashgrab but without some cashgrab flicks that are guaranteed to sell a billion dollars in merchandise, Pixar can't really afford to continue to make unique projects that, while they do well at the box office, don't bring in a lot of merchandising money.

See, I actually like Cars better than The Incredibles, which gets me side-eyed all over the place.

A Bugs Life has GOT to be Pixar's weakest film, though. Ugh.
