Well, fair enough. I don't have a problem with what you've just described - especially when the fic is a quickie by definition, a super-shortfic, or a piece that's more 'scenario' than story.

I do feel sad when I see this happening more and more often, especially when a particular fic has tremendous promise and could have been turned into a highly memorable story if the author had put in a little more effort.

Mind you, in my fandom the fanfics are getting shorter and shorter. Anything over 1,000 words is really rare now! So maybe it's not surprising that this trend is happening in parallel.

Come to think of it, I'm glad at least that you and other authors 'warn' for it. Thank you for that!
