But I thought a lot of fans I heard about were utterly fragging crazy, so kept down in my own little corner, read fic, and ignored a lot of the batshit (or sat back and laughed at it).
I personally think any fans who think Destiel could ever become canon are a bit crazy if they think the 8 years of series that has only ever shown Dean actually getting into bed with women would ever do anything to change that trend. No, random quips and long periods of staring do not prove he's got the hots for Cas. He's been shown a few times reacting adversely (though not homophobiclly) to homosexual implications.
As fun as it might be to pick out all those little things that can be interepeted as "Dean's secret gay!", they're not, and I side-eye people who think they're proof.
The other thing I think so many of these batshit types who want it to be canon fail to see: If the writers of the show had to write Destiel, they'd write it badly, and leave the fandom screaming that they destroyed their beloved OTP.
Of course, I tend to be cynical about this sort of thing too.
