... In videogames.

Not being able to withstand the torture in Metal Gear Solid and letting Meryl die (Spoiler!) haunted me for so very long.

Eventually my button bashing skills increased to the point I could do it (Not too long after I started masturbating, coincidentally) but for years is was my greatest failure.

I once tried to do the "save the cows" quest in LoZ:MM without slowing down time (don't mock me, I'm really bad at video games) and failed. What I saw...it was worse than reading about it in any walkthrough, or on any TV Tropes page. No matter how many times I play, I'll never try that again. I can't risk it.

My example didn't affect me as strongly, because thanks to the mechanics of the game, I was able to do it right next time. But I do know what you mean.

I've never done it on regular time... I never thought of it. So I've never seen that cut scene. I have seen all of them except that one. A while back I considered looking it up on youtube but hearing from people who have seen it, like you, made me decide against it. No one I've talk to who's seen it has ever been nonchalant about it.

Oh man. I couldn't save her the first time, but I made sure I did the second time.

Related: Mine might be how EMBARRASSINGLY LONG it took me to beat Metal Gear Rising. A six hour game. I got it at launch (Feb.) and beat it a month ago. ...Yeah.

Also I've never beaten Devil May Cry 4's final boss. Granted I stopped trying after a day. Whoops.
