Oh gosh and golly and goodness gracious me, it is another troll here to tell us all how they hate Moffatt. We get it, really we do. Do us and yourself a favor, take a couple of years off from Who fandom and come back when he decides to move on (or when you manage to move on).

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not what a troll is. Do you actually know the definition of a troll, or are you under the impression it means "stupid fan you don't like"? Because uh, it doesn't. A troll is someone who pretends to espouse an opinion they don't actually hold specifically in order to stir up wank.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Given the OP's response to this, I...think they might actually be a troll.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
It was half-and-half: I was kind of trolling, but obviously, I do believe what I wrote, and the first comment's response pretty much explains why it's a secret.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, I think trolling ultimately has less to do with sincerity than it does with the desired outcome. You can genuinely believe a thing and still express it in ways and in contexts that are deliberately inflammatory.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to break this to you nonny, but I doubt OP is a troll and I really doubt they will just leave who fandom. And even if they do, there are plenty of who fans that hate Moffat and aren't going anywhere.

It's a show of change and there will always be Who fans who hate the current direction of the show, the fanbase is too large and dedicated to think we could ever have otherwise.

And that's fine, everyone has different opinions. If YOU have a problem with it then maybe YOU should leave. Otherwise fandom is always going to annoy you.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Only in Doctor Who fandom could the person who has to leave be the person who enjoys the show.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not the person who enjoys the show that has to leave; it's the person who gets upset that others don't share her/his opinions on the current state of the show.

And, well, that could be said of any fandom.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody said comment-OP HAS to leave, just that if it bothers them then maybe they should.

Love the show or hate the show, if you can't handle fans having different opinions then maybe fandom is not for you. This isn't a judgement on anyone but I just don't think fandom is worth the stress.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
What can I say? I thought for sure I would be fail!barred LOL. I'm not actually in the fandom, and don't really care much about all the sturm und drang around the man. That said, I think he was a poor choice for a SF show, but then he ended up treating ACD's writing the same way. I don't like the man's writing. Full-on hate? Naaaah, life is too short, man.

Peter will make it okay. I have extreme faith in this.

I don't trust Moffat one bit, but honestly Capaldi will not fail us.

He was so awesome in CoE. Absolutely broke my heart.

I'd highly recommend The Hour series 2, but again he'd heart breaking in it.

For less pain The Thick Of It's awesome.

My boyfriend and I rewatched the scene where he and Lix read about what happened to their daughter. Only the second time we've ever cried in unison.

I love you for mentioning CoE. A lot of things I've seen point out his role in "Fires of Pompeii", but I think his role as the politician in CoE was far more awesome for being the guy stuck in an increasingly bad situation.

That performance really stuck with me because of the subtle yet powerful way he was able to convey the agony of doing horrible things for what you believe is the greater good (and then slowly losing that belief). Nothing else tore me up - not even Jack's two losses - the way the resolution of Frobisher's storyline did.

Yeah, I have zero faith in Moffat as a writer, but I love Capaldi so I know that at the very least, I'll enjoy his performance.
fickle_obsessed: (Tucker is more awesome than you)

[personal profile] fickle_obsessed 2013-08-10 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly this! This is why I'd hoped it wouldn't be him, but now it is I can accept it because well it's Capaldi and the more he's in TV being amazing, the better.

Capaldi is awesome, but I'm gonna have a really hard time getting John Frobisher out of my mind when I see him again in something Who-related.
fickle_obsessed: (Tucker is more awesome than you)

[personal profile] fickle_obsessed 2013-08-10 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I really do think he's so good it won't be that difficult when it happens though. I mean Malcolm and Randall couldn't be more different.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I think this too, but a good actor seems to get me forgetting about their other role once they're on screen, so I'm hopeful.

[Picture is The Valeyard from the TV show "Doctor Who". He is a man with light skin wearing a shiny dark gray strange type of helmet headdress thing and a shiny dark gray outfit with one of those round collar things that covers the chest in a half circle come on there's gotta be a name for it.]

I knew Moffat would refer to HIM as soon as Capaldi was announced. I also know, going by the way Moffat does references like this, IT WILL BE A HOT MESS.

[Face smiling with is tongue poking out emoticon] Watch this make the failbar LAUGHING OUT LOUD.
