Here's a thought. Maybe it doesn't matter if she's "actually" a good person or not.

She might very well function as a symbol for people in the fandom - of overcoming adversity, for example. ~ Yes, there's the "I'm having a bad day, give me presents" thing, but otoh the people who give those gifts get to feel good about themselves in that moment, and altruistic and generous and caring and so on.

Should all the people who were inspired by Lance Armstrong back in the day to get fit or keep trying or overcome their physical limitations now stop all those things, because their inspiration was secretly doping?

(Maybe this is why it's safer to be inspired by fictional characters, who generally are unchanging and thus untarnishable.)

If you really have the need to stalk and collect evidence and unmask someone, anon, perhaps put that crusading spirit toward taking down some shithead whose loss would be a clear benefit to a community.

I think you might be right - people's image of her, even if it's not the truth, has its own merits.
