...Personally, I'd want to give them the benefit of the doubt [I'm naive that way], but it's possible that they are doing those things, and just playing up the amount that they do - or that they're able because - for whatever reason - they don't have a job/school to eat up a lot of their time.

That said, even if she is what you suspect, you're kinda being obsessive over it.

Here's a thought. Maybe it doesn't matter if she's "actually" a good person or not.

She might very well function as a symbol for people in the fandom - of overcoming adversity, for example. ~ Yes, there's the "I'm having a bad day, give me presents" thing, but otoh the people who give those gifts get to feel good about themselves in that moment, and altruistic and generous and caring and so on.

Should all the people who were inspired by Lance Armstrong back in the day to get fit or keep trying or overcome their physical limitations now stop all those things, because their inspiration was secretly doping?

(Maybe this is why it's safer to be inspired by fictional characters, who generally are unchanging and thus untarnishable.)

If you really have the need to stalk and collect evidence and unmask someone, anon, perhaps put that crusading spirit toward taking down some shithead whose loss would be a clear benefit to a community.

I feel so incredibly sad for you, OP.

The fact that you don't believe that people can be nice just to be nice is such a sad commentary, to be honest. I don't know what has happened in your past to make you so suspicious of kind behavior, but I truly wish nothing but good things for you. Hopefully, you will get the love and kindness that everyone deserves and realize that there are some people out there who, despite personal tragedies and failures, are genuinely sweet and only want to help just because.

Frankly I find it really disturbing that you are so hung up on this person being something other than what they appear that you are wasting your time trying to prove that she's an asshole. Because I hate to break it to you, but you're not sounding sweet as sugar yourself.

Seriously, have you ever just stopped to think, “Maybe this person is genuine?" It IS a possibility. (Now am I saying she's perfect? No. That isn't possible. But maybe she's just careful with her words and image, and that isn't a bad thing.)

Hell, even if she is faking it... People will probably find out sooner or later. It isn't your place and you should leave it alone. This obsession isn't healthy, so I say move on and enjoy your life again.

That sounds a lot like a certain BNF I share two fandoms with. Because of her aura of perfectness, it is hard to explain why I hate her. She stalked and molested another fan years ago, and for the sake of the other person's privacy, I can't explain to everyone why I think she's a complete shitbag, I just have to loathe her in silence. (Probably not the same person as yours; she's made a few other slips over the years, enough that I can make most people understand why I think she's not the perfect flower she's made out to be).
