(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 03:49 am (UTC)(link)In my view, power corrupts. Which means that people with a fair amount of social power have either gotten it from manipulation, or have started to take advantage of it. They may be still quite nice though, but there's something less than shiny there.
There are exceptions, but they are fairly uncommon.
This BNF might be one of them. Or might be too good to be true. You don't know. I don't think it's worth it for you to get your fake on to find out though, just raise your eyebrows and move on. It's OKAY if you don't know, just keep an open mind that not everyone with social credit is who they seem.
My friendship circle once worshipped someone who seemed perfect. And it was close to worship. She had a hard life, disability, bad shit, etc, lived in the bush and rarely came to the city, and that made my friends more in awe of her. She ran goddess workshops, and blessed everyone and stared long into your eyes with a loving expression.
I had my doubts. Anyway, she ended up moving in with me and my friends, and the facade came down. Yick. Everyone was shocked.
So anyway, that's an example that's slightly parallel, my experience (and I'm not young) is that people with lots of social credit are rarely who they seem, but once in a while they are. However, on the internet, it's pretty easy to not be who you seem. So, again, keep an open mind but
DON'T OBSESS THIS IS NOT WORTH IT AND MAYBE SHE IS REALLY LOVELY AND WHO CARES ANYWAY ONCE YOU STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER! It's not like you're seeing her abuse people openly and get away with it, so everyone's winning all round, even if by chance she was a faker with a sad IRL, and she could be a fantastic activist who cares deeply about everyone. It happens, even if it's rarer than most think.
tl;dr Chill, OP.
