Sometimes, when I'm having a really, really shitty day, I'll get out a teddy bear I've since before I was born [my grandparents 'gave' it to me while I was still in womb] and just cuddle it for a while until I feel better.

That's Muzzy. I've had her since I was six. She has a hole in the back of her head where I held a hair dryer too close to her while I drying her off. She also survived for about ten years in a crawlspace after my family's religious leader banned stuffed animals because they were afraid they promoted bestiality.

I've had her this entire time, have watched many cartoons with talking animals, and bought even more stuffed animals to anthropomorphize and as of today have not had any urge to copulate with an animal. An alien, maybe.

They thought encouraging children to bond emotionally with animals and think of them as having feelings would inevitably manifest as sexual attraction?

IDK he was a pervert who probably couldn't imagine someone having emotions and attachments that weren't sexual in nature? This was the same guy who didn't think opposite sex siblings should be left together unsupervised at any age.

It was a cult that garbled a lot of aspects of different religions. The leader actually rewrote and published his version of the bible. At it's core it was really just a community of polygamists with an interest in pedophilia and a flair for the dramatic?
