Yes, I realize this, but I'm still allowed to be annoyed by this aspect of his character. When characters showcase negative characteristics, you can always argue back to the roots of the matter (how they were raised, where they grew up), but that doesn't excuse them of everything.

The one thing I like about season 8 is that they have Dean being more sensitive and talking about his feelings and embracing more feminine characteristics and being less concerned about upholding his machismo, but I feel like the writers are rather incongruent and will have Dean act or say something rather offensive even after more development.
