Re: would you judge a man for using a prostitute?

I would, and do judge anyone who 'uses' prostitutes. Where the situation presents itself I would physically harm such a male. Prostitution is abuse, there's no other way to look at it.

Would you also physically harm a woman who had used a male prostitute, or a male who had used a male prostitute?

Good question. I don't really know why, but I don't think I would.

I suppose its because in those situations no women are being abused.

Well, at least you're upfront and unapologetic about being a complete hypocrite, I guess

Lol, "poor menz" trolls are really getting boring now.

this is not "poor menz". the reason the 'poor menz' argument is usually fallacious is because it ignores the extent to which historical and social injustices shape present experiences, the ways in which things are presently unequal and in which experiences for men and women are not the same. it's not because if bad things happen to men we should ignore them; it's because, most of the time, in the context of talking about sexism, things that happen to men aren't actually that bad.

this case is not like those cases. if you think prostitution is abuse, it is abuse in itself, not because of a legacy of oppression and misogyny, but because it's abuse. if that's the case, it's equally bad whether it's men or women undergoing it, and it's blatantly hypocritical to say otherwise.

DA--or, for that matter, a woman using a female prostitute? I mean, in that situation, if all prostitution is abuse, then the woman purchasing sex is an abuser. (For the record, I think a lot of real-world, as opposed to hypothetical, prostitution is exploitative and/or abusive. Provided government oversight, health care, and of course the free consent of all parties, I don't have a problem with people paying for sex, just the associated icky stuff that happens when prostitution isn't regulated and prostitutes are seen as second class citizens.)

"Prostitution is abuse, there's no other way to look at it."
What about when it isn't abuse? Like in the countries where it is not only legal but the prostitutes are government employees who get all the benefits of such, like health care?
