Why is that important to you?

(I'll clue you in, it's the patriarchy)

Look, you have points and this could be an interesting discussion but I'm drunk and you seem smug and condescending so I'm just going to go put on my favorite heels and masturbate to a picture of my ex-boyfriend wearing his heels and say I'm like ninety thousand percent sure that even when complete and total equality of the sexes is accomplished high heels will still be a thing and there is no reason to punish women for enjoying them before that goal is attained. High heels might have an unfortunate history but they don't cause sexism and honestly pretending to like or be something you're not for feminism isn't going to help us get there. So like if I want to wear heels in public someday and a guy thinks less of me for it or objectifies me that IS NOT MY OR MY SHOE'S FAULT.

OH AND BY THE WAY HIGH HEELS WERE INVENTED FOR MEN. So like go demand men start wearing them again. Pretty please.

Yes, someone finally said it! Women were forbidden from wear them, in at least the 17th century, because it was so costly to build dresses with skirts long enough to cover their feet. And because the Sun King didn't want anyone's legs looking better than his, but that's clearly beside the point... right?

Although I read somewhere they think the first iteration was for butchers in ancient Egypt, to avoid walking through the blood and offal of their wares.

And do you seriously not see the irony in telling ALL WOMEN not to do a thing so men will see us as individuals worthy of respect?

Respect isn't something we're going to get once we unlock the mysterious sequence of behavior that fools the menz into thinking we're one of them.
