Re: Learning to walk in heels
I didn't wear heels until I was 27. I only wear makeup or a bra to job interviews or other similarly high-stakes social occasions. I've never been to any kind of salon. I'm a feminist, yes. But my mother was pretty much the same when it came to avoiding all forms of beautification and she was a traditional Christian stay-at-home mother who never even wore pants, because things like beauty and fashion were just slutty I guess.
Bottom line is, men care way less than you seem to think and do not universally like what you would describe as 'patriarchal' decisions. A lot of men actively prefer dating people who DON'T go in for the beauty stuff, especially hyper-conservative men (not that their opinions matter either). Women dress primarily to express themselves within the scope of womanhood, and 95% of the casual judging that this causes comes from other women, a la What Not To Wear.
no really are you even reading your own comments? You're the one who are saying heels are for sluts. There appear to be, like, zero men on this subthread. All the judging and appropriate-female-standard-setting is coming from you. We seem to not need no dudes to keep us in line! We've got you for that.
