(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 11:08 am (UTC)(link)For a lot of people writing fanfic is not some ~artistic movement~, it is just fun. If people don't want concrit, let them. It doesn't actually harm you. And just cause they don't want concrit, doesn't mean they believe their fic is the best ever either. Everybody has different ways to unwind.
And before you begin, the whole 'it is posted in public so they should be open to it' argument is bullshit. If some dudes are shooting hoops in the park, everybody would consider you a dick if you just walked up there with no prior involvement and started coaching people about their throws. Fanfic is not any different.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)Also, lets face it, 90% of the concrit giving online is shit, so it is not like people are missing out on anything. Too many people give concrit on subjective matters and not objective stuff.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)I don't know if it's just because I'm older and have been in fandom for a long time, but I just don't dig the idea of being part of a culture where the author broadcasts their fic and everyone else has to either applaud or keep quiet and then go bitch about it in private. That doesn't make sense to me, as fandom is a peer movement. It ends up with secrets like this; people backbitching about unassailable BNF celebulikes because they're discouraged from saying anything less than 100% positive about their work in public.
