I see my psychopharmacologist in three days. Last time I saw him, he increased my anger medication because I had been having bursts of rage. The problem is, past a certain amount, that medication increases my anxiety, so my anxiety medication needs to be increased to counter it...but recently the FDA put out a warning against doses higher than my current dose of my anxiety medication. So he couldn't do that for me.

Not only did my anxiety increase as expected, but it's actually continued to increase since then. It's been four months. I'm a paranoid mess.

(I hate it when I use too many of the same word, but sometimes it can't be helped. "Increase" count: 5)

Maybe he can try switching you to a different anxiety medication that will either be more effective, or is safe to take at higher doses? I'd suggest bringing this up with him again, and having him work with you to find a viable solution that doesn't leave you in this state. I hope it works out for you; I understand how difficult finding the right balance of psych meds can be. Good luck.

Have you considered switching anger medication? Because with side effects that strong it doesn't seem to be good for you in the long haul. Also fighting side effects of pill A with pill B really isn't a great strategy to go with.

But if you don't have any other option for the anger medication try and switch the anxiety medication.

Anyway *offers a hug* I hope you get through this ok!

I would ask about a different medication, TBH. There are a LOT of meds out there for anxiety treatment. I was just in to see a new psych for anxiety medication, and we are sticking for the moment with a longer-acting variant of my old med (clonazepam vs. lorazepam). Later on, she wants to try different meds, but right now my anxiety is so bad that trying something different in and of itself would be an anxiety trigger. Sigh.

There are meds in many, many different classes that are used for anxiety treatment. SSRIs, benzodiazepines, Buspar, some blood pressure meds have been found to help with anxiety... there is actually quite a lot. It sounds like what you are on isn't working, and that it's time to try something else.
