Re: PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

OP

In my case it was allergy meds and antacids. NOT a fun combo -- the antacids actually leave 60% of the medication circulating in your system. When 70% of it is supposed to be eliminated. Resulting in side effects that rise from deep R'lyeh where they lay dreaming.... I had a family member who nearly died because of citrus juice/blood thinners. And again, nobody caught it. Nobody caught on with me, either, even though I told GP, specialist, AND pharmacist I was having side effects from hell, and could they please give me alternatives and/or meds to deal with the side effects.

This all happened last year, but I never found out until recently, when I was looking for a completely different interactions list. What happened was, I noticed moderately increased side effects from my GERD meds in combo with the allergy pills, so I said to my self, "Self! Take regular antacids for a few days instead!" Yeah. That was when the side effects really went pear-shaped, and I felt extremely ill (and was travelling alone at the time).

In hindsight, I am very very very lucky. Everything is connected, F!S. Food and pills can be bad, bad ju-ju depending on what you eat and what you are taking.
