Re: Bookshelf!Anon asks: What is Your Weirdest Find?

Eh, I can't complain about the latter too much since the reason I still have it is because she didn't want it back.

Narnia isn't for everyone, despite what some people I've known seem to think. I'm just irritated because I know exactly who it was, but I can't say anything because ~family drama~ would result.

Ooooh. Say no more about family drama. You can get a replacement, easily enough? Or are you attached to the one, actual, physical book itself? I'm not...I read and reread a copy till it can't hold together anymore, then buy a replacement copy. *shrug* I know most book people are attached to the actual physical book itself, I'm not. Just weird like that. I guess.

If it was just one of the books I wouldn't be as upset - that particular family member is known to have sticky fingers, so you have to expect something to go missing. It's the fact that they took all seven books that gets me.

As for replacements...Yeah, I've replaced most of the series. But it was still a nasty shock to find out the books I'd learned to read with were gone.

All seven books? Dude any family member of mine that did that would find the head of their favourite stuffed animal in their bed the next morning.....

They did it while I was out of town, so - sadly - I wasn't there, or it wouldn't have happened to begin with.

What happened is my housemate [another family member, from the other side of my family that didn't know about her sticky fingers] invited her over while I was gone, so I both had no say or the ability to make sure she didn't 'borrow' [or, more accurately, decide to take] anything with her. By the time I got back, she was safely back in her home a number of hours away and I had no concrete proof of what happened.

Still! You would think your housemate would at least have noticed the girl walking out with SEVEN BOOKS packed up with her. I commiserate with you on your wholly unearned and irretrievable loss, anon. :-(
