I'm surprised to be writing this, but perhaps its time for some old diplomatic ratfucking. Set up a State Department office in the Olympic Village and give asylum documents and a plane ticket to anyone wishing to make the jump.

Weird question, but do you know the origin of that term? "Ratfucking" I mean. I wonder if it has anything to do with the German word "rathaus", which is basically a government building like a city hall, if I remember correctly.

In English, it appears to have been first used for either political dirty tricks in the University of California (pioneered by Nixon cronies), or a military term to describe stripping boxes of rations of the best goodies. It's not clear which meaning came first.

It's not a form of politics I'd recommend in general, but don't really mind it when Putin is involved.
