There's a difference between not forgiving someone and making shitty comments on an apology about how unforgivable dumb olympics rants are

They're probably the kind of person who'd just let actual bigotry take place right in front of them in favor of angry tweets about something Justin Bieber said

I don't know, I didn't read it as anything other than their personal reaction. And in the context of a thread where someone is apologizing for something that they are acknowledging was wrong and possibly hurtful, it doesn't seem totally ridiculous for someone to take that position.

Like I say, I might not agree with them, but if they don't think they can forgive dt, they don't think they can forgive dt. You can't make 'em.

You can't make a person forgive anything.

But you can criticize that person for it, just as you can criticize them for treating an admission of wrongdoing as worthy of dismissal.

Part of the problem with a lot of social justice activists is that when someone says, "hey, you guys are right. That was a really shitty position for me to take. I am now ready to take a stand against oppression," the reaction is "FUCK YOU. WHAT YOU PREVIOUSLY SAID IS UNFORGIVABLE. YOU ARE ALWAYS BAD FOREVER AND EVER. GO AWAY." What sort of progress do you think that engenders?

What is the point of saying, "your position is problematic and you should change it" if when said person makes that change you reject him or her on the grounds that s/he once had a problematic position?

well that's because SJW's are simply trolls clothed by the facade of social justice.

Nah. They aren't.

What they are usually is teenagers (either literally or mentally) who don't understand that society includes those people they dislike, and that those people they dislike are always going to be there.

heh heh nothing you said contradicted my point though :p

I don't read that as what the person who started this thread is doing? I guess?

"What is the point of saying, "your position is problematic and you should change it" if when said person makes that change you reject him or her on the grounds that s/he once had a problematic position?"

But I don't see that that's what happened here? I see "I was personally offended and do not forgive you for offending me." They didn't say "your position is problematic," they didn't say fuck you, and they didn't say go away. They said they were offended and that the apology didn't change that.

They also didn't say, "I do not forgive you for offending me." They said "it doesn't excuse what you did," which is a pretty open statement, which is probably why everyone is interpreting it every which way.

Except they did say that in their second comment, which they posted before yours. And in the context of the thread, it was clear that they were speaking only for themselves even before they spelled that out.

Whoops, all right. I entered this thread via a parent link and didn't see OP's reply at the bottom so I'm just gonna hop back out and hope the thread dies now.
