I hate every single fucking moron in that abortion subthread. And if you have to ask which ones are the morons, the answer is ALL OF THEM. How can people be stupid enough to argue about abortion on the internet, it's 2013. Get a fucking life.

You're probably not going to come back and see this, which is a shame because I'm really interested in knowing how "it's 2013" is even slightly like a reason not to discuss (or even argue about) abortion. Republican-controlled state legislatures in several states are passing increasingly restrictive laws about when a woman can get an abortion and imposing ridiculous and medically-unnecessary regulations that force clinics to close, making it de-facto impossible for abortions to be obtained in those states. It being 2013 seems like an excellent reason to argue about abortion in light of those facts.

This! I'm a woman living in Texas and as long as I live here, which is another year or two before I can get transferred, I don't have the option to have a safe, legal abortion. But two months ago I did. And women in other states who had the option of a safe, legal abortion no longer do, either. It's sickening.

I'm sorry, Anon. I was following that whole mess in Texas, and the way the legislature tried to shut down that one legislator's filibuster of that horrible law -- and then Perry just calling another session to steamroll right over her and pass it anyway. I hope you're able to get out of there soon, and don't find yourself with an emergency in the meantime. And I hope that law gets challenged and shot down by the federal courts, because the option for a safe, legal abortion is so important for so many women.
