Honest to God, I've seen the movie a couple of times and I am blocking all of its songs. I guess that's how memorable the music was.

Shame really, given the setting of New Orleans. They could and should have gone balls to the wall with jazz, blues and rag time numbers. Instead of going for Newman (Again!), I would have hired Wynton Marsalis and given him free range. Imagine the classic Disney soundtrack he would have made.

No, why would you say that? Now I will forever want what I cannot have...

Oops. Sorry. But, c'mon. You have to admit that Disney relies way to heavily on Newman. Give someone else a try on a new movie.

Yup. Disney relies way too heavily on what worked before. It'd be great to see something really new.

This. When I heard they were making a movie set in New Orleans (which is, for srs, one of my favorite cities ever), that's what I hoped they were going to do. But nope!

Which is probably a large part of the reason I'm not fond of the movie, just because the story was underwhelming, and the music wasn't anything special. It's visually gorgeous--just not much else.

Oh Wynton Marsalis!! I would have loved a Disney soundtrack by him! Now I'm even more disappointed!

agreed 100%

They aimed for mediocrity. They got it.

I did enjoy the movie -- I was born in New Orleans and raised nearby -- but considering the absolute wealth of talent, both living and deceased from that city, it's a shame the soundtrack wasn't more memorable.

The script was OK, but again, it could have been better. I think I was just relieved (at the time), that they didn't screw up "Disney's first black princess."

Jazz is Not My Thing, but that still would have been pretty awesome. It feels like Disney does their best musical work when they latch onto a genre/theme and stick with it for the entire movie. (The Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Tarzan)
