People currently in fandom went in expecting the same magical moments they had as a child, and that's not a terribly reasonable expectation.

Eh. I'm an adult, and when I go into a Disney/Pixar film I'm still able to get that feeling if it's an excessively good one. Honestly most of my favorites were released well into my teenage years and twenties. I'm actually more appreciative of this stuff now than I was as a kid.
