My country doesn't use the tip system, but as someone who works in a cafe, the idea of it is awful.

It seems completely pointless punishing the server for things beyond their control. And it would make dealing with asshole customers ten times more unpleasant.

Yeah it's a dumb system, but unfortunately it's necessary because SOMEHOW these employers are alloyed to pay less than minimum wage. I'm not even sure how that's legal.
