(Anonymous) 2013-08-16 12:48 am (UTC)(link)The rest of it is probably mostly just the Internet Internetting the way the Internet always Internets. The same basic cycle of hype, hype backlash, annoying fans, Internet commentariat controversy, that whole thing. Not that I'm saying any one side of it is right or wrong - just that it seems like the same basic process that the Internet goes through with everything. Things get hyped up, the hype gets backlash and people get annoyed with the fans, it all becomes fodder for the endless mill of discussion and expression that is the Internet, and once it's there it never leaves. More than anything else, I don't think it's anything wrong with people - what's up with Felicia Day is just how shit operates on the Internet now. At least within a certain segment of commentators, including more or less everyone on here.
