Hardly. Some people ARE smart enough at age 12 to realise that guys don't have 12 inch penises and be able to imagine emotions into the scene, without having done it themselves. I mean... I haven't. And I'm 22. I'm hoping that that doesn't mean I can't write convincingly. I also haven't done drugs, been a guy, killed anyone, gone on a quest, fallen for my same sex best friend, kidnapped anyone, but I can still write it. Okay so I have more reading experience because I'm 22. But C'mon. If you think 12 year olds know absolutely nothing, I don't know what rock you're living under. Sure, some are total idiots about it. but others have actually paid attention in sex ed class, perhaps had a talkative parent, and done some reading. That doesn't mean they're having sex, or planning to have sex sometime soon. When I was 12 I'd gotten into Mills and Boon books (when I was 9) which had graphic sex scenes. By age 7 I'd worked out how sex worked by reading a book about dog breeding and realising 'oh. Tab and slot. Gotcha', my mum had a health book that was mainly bought for pregnancy, but it also had a chapter on non pregnancy sexual positions, with illustrations. I must have read that by age 9 as well. By age 12 I'd read young adult books that involved teenage sex, romance, etc, with the full approval of my mother. And I'd seen tv and movies involving sex scenes. No, not porn, but since i knew WHAT was happening in the shadows, thanks to my official sex ed age 10, and all the other reading I'd done, I could write if I wanted to, very well, by age 12.
