I hated Angel in RENT (...along with everyone I think we're supposed to like in RENT) for the same reason, so I feel you.

Just FYI (because apparently I'm a hardcore Jesse stan who cares about random anons on the internet not getting the wrong idea): This is Jesse from Breaking Bad, and he did NOT kill a dog.*

*He did make a speech about killing a dog at an NA meeting, but the dog was a metaphor/stand in for a person that he had killed. Which is also, you know, not a good thing to do, but there were circumstances.

No problem! I'm actually really curious to know if the OP really did misinterpret that speech -- which is fantastic -- so badly. Because, yeah, it's a much different thing if you get what he's talking about.

(I also agree with you about Rent. And I would probably agree with the OP about Jesse if his speech had been literal.)

Given that the killing of the person happened BEFORE the speech in question, it actually would seem the OP was cool with it, since their secret implies they didn't hate Jesse UNTIL the dog speech.

You know, or they're a troll. Though actually, saying they hate Jesse for killing Gale would definitely have more wank potential than this secret, which just makes it seem like the OP doesn't understand subtext.

I liked Angel except for that - I think I just did a huge "lalala" so I could enjoy her character otherwise. In general Rent does have characters who are hard to like, and I've never been quite sure what we're supposed to take away from them.
