I have this kink for character re-learning to be human/themselves. Completely broken or mind wiped or slavery or Stokholmed characters having to deprogram and learn about who they are and how to behave "normal".

There's a lot of breaking of characters, but it's pretty rare to find the building back up and re-learning part in fic.

Oh. Oh yeah. I didn't know that was a thing, but I really like that thing too.

Amnesia!fic is way more common, but that's only one little facet of a fascinating scenario.

Yeah and sadly amnesia just doesn't do it for me. It's a different kind of re-learning, you know? *sigh* If only I could write.
