Simply put, it's the male gaze.

Male writers and audiences see something cool and enviable when they see a male abusing women. It's a wish fulfilment thing. from their pov he's the ideal male, free to do as he wants to women without fear of repercussions. Same as the Fonzie secret the other day.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it like this. I just...don't see what's so funny in men who treat women as nothing more than a conquest. And it really bothers me that genuinely funny comedies like 30 Rock or Parks and Recreation struggled with their ratings, while cheap sleazy crap like Two and a Half Men (and even Big Bang Theory, to an extent) get renewed season after season after season.

I even had a male ex-friend of mine state out of the blue that "NPH's gayness was a problem to him at first, but then when he saw that his character fucks all the stupid chicks he became his hero".
