I didn't enjoy her performance either (although to be honest I'm not the biggest fan of several of the films, so my views should always been taken with a pinch of sald) but it was the accent she used that really bothered me- she sounded too close to her 'Mrs Lovett' in my opinion- particularly when juxtaposed with Narcissa (she of the badger striped hair...*sigh*) - it was like along with Bellatrix's sanity she'd lost her aristocratic tones in Azkaban and it bothered me- threw me out of the story.

(I do agree with some of the comments though- I feel in the book Bellatrix was absolutely barking crazy, but there was just something about the film performance that didn't work for me- don't know whether it was 'too weird' or 'not unhinged enough'- I think it was the latter. From what I recall of the films often she seemed to have too precise an understanding of precisely what she was doing, at the same time acting like she was out of control.)

Ugh, I think they messed up the entire Black family. Bellatrix was wrong, Narcissa's hair was incomprehensible, Sirius was... meh, but still suffered from the same thing as the rest of the Marauder era in that he was just too damn OLD. (They're supposed to be ~32 in Philosopher's Stone, and James and Lily were 21 when they died. Instead, Adrian Rawlins was in his early forties for mirror!James - and closer to mid/late forties for later, when he's meant to look 21 in the flashbacks! - and Rickman was FIFTY-FOUR. Playing a THIRTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD. Entire era was messed up there.)

The impression I got from Bellatrix in the book was that she was a tightly-wound elastic band - any wrong movement could snap it. There's control there - shaky control, and sort of false control, but otherwise coming across as in control and menacing as hell. HBC is a good actress, yes, but she was playing her as OMG WACKY ECCENTRIC. And that just honestly came across as a Tim Burton character when she should have felt more terrifying.
