I don't really think it's any worse then any other fandoms, I'm not saying Supernatural fandom isn't full of the crazy because it is, but I've seen just as disturbing/more disturbing stuff come from things like Doctor Who, Harry Potter, MLP, etc.

I think there's just a lot of attention paid to a vocal minority, and the show started catering to that minority because without them, the show wouldn't be on the air. Shows like Supernatural survive on dedicated cult followings.

But for every crazy fan there is a fan with a good sense of humor that doesn't take it seriously. I LOVE the show, but if I took it seriously I would have ditched it a long time ago. The fun of the show is I don't have to take it seriously, I can just sit down and watch some good looking men and some minor horror every week.
