Wanting to have babies with your long-term partner ≠ wanting to have babies with the random hottie on TV.

Because yes, the former does involve emotional intimacy that sometimes includes the desire to reproduce. Whatever, that's your deal. The latter is pure physical attraction and I just can't see the logic in claiming to want a baby with a complete stranger. Have sex with, sure, but dude, leave babies out of your random sexual fantasies with strangers.

But hell, what do I know, I'm just some random on the internet who thinks that people shouldn't take reproduction so lightly, even in hyperbolic "jokes," because it strikes me as deeply irresponsible and thoughtless towards parenthood and human life in general.

That escalated quickly.

I get the sentiment, but c'mon, you sound deadly serious while talking about an idiom featuring exploding ovaries.

I just really fucking hate the expression.

...And my partner isn't awake to tell me to shut my face and get of f!s >_>

Some people get off on the thought of having babies.

Unless they actually are having babies in an irresponsible manner, I really don't think it's as terrible as you make it out to be.

And yet you're the one who's totally ignoring the rather profound and intimate link between the having of sex and the making of babies. Yes, we co-opt the act for other reasons, and not everybody pays into the system, so to speak (which is fine, if you enjoy babyless sex you're certainly not hurting anyone.) But ultimately the main reason we want to do it and find it pleasurable is so that the species can be perpetuated. I consider it much healthier when people acknowledge this fact than when they don't.

The good thing about science is that it's true whether you believe in it or not. :)

Are you fucking shitting me?

Unless and until people are actually having babies irresponsibly, people can joke about their own reproductive choices in any damn way they please.
