I always play on easy first time through, because I'm playing primarily to learn the story and get to know the world and characters. If I really enjoy the game, I *may* bump up the difficulty on the second playthrough--or not, if the world and story is rich enough. I generally only advance in difficulty if the world and characters aren't enough to hold my interest on their own. It's my game and I will play it in the way that helps me to enjoy it the most, thank you very much.
