Hey, I'm not laughing at you, OP. I almost always do my first playthrough of any game on the easiest mode, because I need to focus on memorizing the maps and enemy strategies. If I enjoy the game, my next playthrough will be on a harder difficulty; if I don't enjoy it, I didn't waste too much time and effort. I worked my way up to Dante Must Die on Devil May Cry 3 from Easy Automatic Mode, and my first playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins was on Easy, now I'm doing Normal on my (simultaneous) second and third playthroughs, and eventually I hope to push it to Nightmare. But none of that would be possible if I was too proud to start simple, because I'd get frustrated and give up before I could improve (if I'm interested in improving). Elitist gamers who give you shit for playing in whatever way is most fun for you have completely missed the point of games.
