JD/Elliot from Scrubs.

Because yes, yes, yes they totally were a completely fucking godawful couple for 7 seasons of the show. I totally agree with everyone who complains about that, because you're all totally correct. But I will forever argue that their final restart of their relationship in season 8 was not only a complete 180 from how they had behaved in the previous 7 seasons, it also built on and depended on their in-universe understanding that they HAD been awful in the previous 7 seasons and genuinely growing and learning from it in ways that actually showed in their overall characterizations in season 8. And their ability to actually do that in a believable way was executed really well, with an awesome low-key attitude that I pretty much never see on TV.

And they got together by having a long mature talk honestly discussing the pros and cons of getting together again, and deciding clear-headedly that it would make them happy to try it. Seriously, how many other TV couples can you name who got together for good that way?

Exactly! JD and Elliot get so much shit for their ridiculous behaviour in the early seasons but the whole point of that ship is that they mature and learn and grow into people who are actually compatible with one another. By the end of the series, when JD is seeing that montage, you actually feel like they'll make it this time (that scene always makes me cry, really hard).
