Re: Gross extended relatives

[personal profile] deenaa 2013-08-19 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
My grandmother accused my father of sexually abused me when I was two because I knew the word 'hospital'. She was apparently so drunk at the time that she "doesn't remember saying it".

As a result, I didn't know I had extended family for twelve years, and by the time I met them, I was smart enough to know there was something seriously messed up there. This story + ones I heard at later dates (e.g. Mum was a slut for marrying Dad, but her younger brother cheats with three women and is still the favourite because penis) confirmed the icky feeling, and I've kept my distance since then.

The last time I spoke with my grandfather, I was sixteen. He had dumped his wife and was dating a twenty-something year old at 70+. He didn't remember how old I was. I told him I was planning on studying IT at uni and he scoffed and told me that was "men's work". Sincerely wish I'd told him to go fuck himself.
