You are a troll! Every one knows Anita is a moron. She doesn't play the games she talks about. She presents her argument like a 9th grader presenting their first persuasive essay to a class. She was given $150,000 AND DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT HER FORMAT!

Thank you.

I loathe, loathe, FREAKIN' LOATHE the term "Fake girl gamer" but I swear, that's what Anita is. I doubt she has played the games she reviews but watches the walk-thrus and goes on wiki for the information. Same with the books and movies she reviews. Case in point, her review for 500 Days of Summer. Anyone who actually watched the movie would have been yelling at her youtube "review" of the movie for calling it a "Manic Pixie Girl" cliche. Only someone who hasn't watched the movie would have come to that conclusion.

And like you mention, she was given enough money to buy a house in the pokies and has only done three videos with absolutely no change in format. Where has the money gone to? Never mind she has blocked all comments and e-mail, so you can't question this shady action of hers.

Ugh. What a phoney.

ugh, yes. talk about missing the point. if anything, it was a deconstruction of the manic pixie dream girl cliche.

It has been proven that she has stolen clips from Let's Plays posted on youtube! So chances are she isn't even playing the games she is talking about. Not to mention she distorts information and outright lies (or she is really ignorant and not researching).

It went to her bank account.

I will say this for her. Her goals were much, much smaller. She never intended to have that much money so it doesn't surprise me that she had no idea what to do with it.

Granted, her integrity issues are independent of that (you can fucking afford to buy and play the goddamn games Anita. You have time, you don't need to have a day job. Hell, you could afford to pay somebody else to play them if a game is too hard. You can sit and watch.), but I'm not surprised she didn't have some great new format to whip out cause she couldn't be expected to have plans to use lots of money to do that one on the much smaller amount of cash she was going for.

The problem is, her intent was beyond her ability, and people wanted her to be good so much they gave her enough to have been what they wanted, but that only means she disappointed that many more people.

I felt indifferent to kinda feeling sorry for her until the lets play proof came up. Then I started actually disliking her. Steal other peoples stuff (folks who did that for a whole lot less then she got, usually nothing more then satisfaction and love for a game) and you deserve to be disliked. Only shame about that is the assholes disliking her for the wrong reasons.

I dunno; I'd say you can be a fan of a game through watching playthroughs and reading wikis, especially if you're in it for the story (which Anita pretty much is). Some people would LIKE to play these games, but just suck terribly at them or can't afford to buy a new system for the game. I love the MMX series but have only had the chance to play 2-3 games myself.

THAT SAID.

If you're coming from such an angle, then you really MUST ensure you know the games well enough to comment on them. And nowadays you really have no excuse, because of longplays and wikis and more.

And honestly, I do not blame her for blocking comments. Sure, it doesn't allow for criticism, but since about 75% of the criticism will be horrible sexist bullshit. In actual fact, this entire situation was created BECAUSE of the disgusting sexist kneejerk; if nothing like that happened, then she'd get a little bit of money, make her videos, and generally just be a blip on the radar.

Except the massive controversy has now created a huge set of expectations on her and now it turns out she can't measure up to them.

The sad thing is, a lot of people warned you all.

Now granted, a lot of them were assholes, but really, a lot of gamers (and their were plenty of ladies) saw that she wasn't up to the job.
