This The Next Generation episode ruined the bodily possession trope for me. (It's "The Schizoid Man" from season 2, by the way.)
I never had a problem with the trope before. But something about how Graves acted while in Data's body (and how it was described) gave off such a strong, detailed, palpable vibe of someone smothering and trapping another and violating every aspect of their autonomy by animating their body and words in ways the original would never act or speak that it made me noticeably distressed for several days and ruined the high-concept-ness and fantastic-ness of all other instances of possession in any fiction ever. The way he systematically psychologically manipulated Data into trusting him and volunteering information about himself was also unusually squicky for the show.
Secret because: No one seems to discuss individual Star Trek The Next Generation episodes anymore.
