I was once called all sorts of horrible things for saying I was in a happy relationship. It wasn't even like a rubbing-somebody's-face-in-it response - just an isolated comment in a general thread elsewhere. Cue the flames!

The internet is nuts, man. I don't know if I can help you because the only other art site I know of is pixiv, which doesn't seem to have much of an English-speaking userbase, and I don't even know if comments are enabled for individual works...
