Yes. I have been a Tolkien fan for decades now. It'll always be part of me. I see other fandoms via Tumblr, and sometimes watch films or series that I like, but I don't write or read in any other fandom. All my energy, all of my passion, is focused on Tolkien. On the other hand, I have a friend I've known for many years who jumps from one enthusiasm to another, and at the time, the current enthusiasm is all he's interested in, and the previous ones are forgotten. It probably just depends on the person. I tend to get deeply rooted, and he blows from one thing to another. Whatever makes a person happy :)

Well if you don't mind me saying so, as someone similar to the friend you mention, I'm glad fans like you exist to support the fandom while fans like me wander off to look at other stuff (yes, I'm in LotR at the moment - the Hobbit end of it).

Hah! They'll have to carry me out! :)
It's great to see new fans come in, too, even if they don't stay.
Of course it's sad when you come to like people very much, and they leave, sometimes without warning. But that's fandom. It's never static.
The majority of the people I follow on Tumblr have very varied interests. But I like that; love the enthusiasm.
