Re: DeviantART you disappoint me...

DA users generally don't know what critique is, and those that do don't say anything because they don't want to deal with those that don't.

There are websites where you can get critique but they generally aren't very fandom oriented, like conceptart.org or cg society.

I'd recommend making friends with a few good artists (they don't have to be amazing artists, just ones that are trained enough to have a good eye) so you can ask them to critique your work. I went to art school so I never needed to rely on sites like DA for critique, and even out of art school I still have a network of talented people who can help if I need it.

I see. Thanks

I have a some friend a couple being pretty decent fandom artists. Though we usually keep to ourselves for stuff not related to fandom. Also I do have some from an outside group ( quite a few have a da). I was just kinda shocked people reacted that way to proposing critique that works better.

Last time I try to criticize the internet's much loved tradition of needless GIFT.

I'd suggest contacting them if you ever need critique, as long as you're nice about it they won't mind.

But as someone says upthread if you want to have a pleasant time on DA, don't visit the forums. And ignore comments that are someone mad about a pairing or about what you're drawing.

The majority of people I interact with on DA are pretty nice, but I tend to not engage with people who make rude or stupid comments. The site is full of people of all age ranges and all artistic levels, so you never know who is going to make comments to you and what their maturity level is.
