4. ...I'm confused. Why isn't Moulin Rouge! a musical?

You'd be really surprised what can change your life. I've known characters that have changed my life, if only in small ways - because they reflected an aspect of my personality which I was ignoring, refusing to deal with, or too afraid to acknowledge. I admired them, perhaps, and so tried to be more like them for the better. So what if they're not real, and not the main focus of whatever series they're in? If they help people get through, and feel better about themselves, and about life, then good for them. People shouldn't feel bad about finding inspiration in fictional characters.

You remind me of a dear friend of mine, and whether or not you're them isn't the point. I just hope you know that you won't be left behind because I'm sure you mean the world to them too. :D

29. CLONE SYAORAN IS LOVE! D:♥ Actually both Syaorans are love so. x3;;

19. Okay, so you find it funny. I guess it's funny when a fandom saves someone's life from spiraling out of control. It's also funny that such and such characters stopped people from killing themselves. I don't get it. What's wrong with being so into a fandom that you wouldn't wanna change? Yeah, changing interests isn't a crime, but wtf, sticking with one interest isn't either. Laugh all you want. We'll just be happy with what makes us better people/keeps us sane, real or not.

5. Why would someone get mad at you for making icons of those characters?

19. oh noes people get emotionally affected by things!!1!1!!

1. i have friends like you, i love them much but i HATE HATE HATE how shy they are! maybe it's just me being selfish but meeting my online friends brings me so much joy. i would only love them more. YOU'RE DEPRIVING YOUR FRIENDS OF SOMETHING THEY PROBABLY DREAM OF. I can understand being shy but don't be selfish!

3. Don't uh... don't the writers/authors WANT people to like the canon pairings?

4. Correction: It's not musical theatre. All a musical is is a story that includes the characters singing. And it's also a great movie . . .

[identity profile] halevy.livejournal.com 2007-10-07 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
30. The anime? Lol. Maybe you should read the manga unless you're talking about both.

But it's okay to hate TRC. I have a love-hate thing with it.

20. You're totally not alone; I'm heavily considering apping Charles Foster Kane somewhere just because playing him would be fantastic and possibly really challenging.

003. IAWTS from beginning to end.
019. A really, really good character can be very much like a person of their own, and people can change lives. Real people, sure--but really, what makes a really good character any less "real" than a living person, to the outside observer of either? They certainly can't do anything for you, or know you personally, but they can be heroes--or crushes, or cautionary tales, or what-have-you.
033. Everyone does at some point, don't they? I was mentioned in the very bottom tiny text of a secret once and it made my week. :D

1. .... Hahahaha, yeah. I totally get you on this one. ♥
20. DUDE NO I HAVE SO LONG WANTED TO PLAY "ELWOOD P. DOWD" BECAUSE OMG LOVE.

[identity profile] momogirl12345.livejournal.com 2007-10-07 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
3. I'm fine with people shipping both canon and non-canon pairings...but REFUSING to ship canon pairings? That's like reading a fanfic supporting one pairing but then looking down on anyone who read it and likes the pairing that was written! XD;

[identity profile] iverin.livejournal.com 2007-10-07 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
13) I love writing about fandom in things. It's more the way you think about it and express things than WHAT you're talking about. For example, I have written 12-page essays on fandoms, fan culture, plot and character analysis, audience reactions... Things like that show that you can think on a deeper level.

Never be afraid to talk about what you know best when you can do it in an intelligent, coherent manner.

The essay that got me All-State Academic Team, one of 20 students in the entire state of Texas, was about how exposure to multiple cultures had influenced my life. It can be done.

GOOD LUCK ON IVY LEAGUE! We'll all be rooting for you.

2. I'll die of happy if that happens. *______________* I'm also betting my money on Flint being playable though--I'd play as him in a heartbeat! :o

19. ... Yeah, you keep on believing that. Who I found strength in is none of your business anyway.

33. I'VE WONDERED THAT but then I realize that about 90% of the secrets that would be, you know, secrets, would be negative.

not!fandom: ...That's kind of a personal attack, I'd say, even though there's not a name.
