I'm afraid I kind of love the Pacific Rim AU's that have been cropping up all over the place since the movie, if only because I love imagining my OTP's(and brotp's) as Jaeger pilots.

I'm not sure how the AU's would work the other way around, especially with the robots too(and now all that's going through my head atm is GD stomping around Middle-Earth squishing orcs).

How about a LotR Pacific Rim AU with Smeagol and Deagol as drift compatible co-pilots? Cause. I'm writing that. Actually, I'm writing a lot of that AU (their Jaeger is eventually refurbished and given to Frodo and Sam. Merry and Pippin are on their pit crew. Galadriel's in charge and Saruman's a priest in the kaiju church). It's a problem I have.
