Chiming in to say that I'm not sure how this is fandom.

I do think that sometimes we have to take into account when older people were born. In some cases. But I think even in the 1940s, some of Phillip's comments would be offensive. Easier to get away with, he'd probably be met with a "okay, enough beer for you" and an eye roll, but he'd get away with it easier. And racism's never cute.

Well, he isn't just old and upper class. He is also Greek, as a foreigner he wouldn't be best placed to understand politeness.

EXCUSE me?!

They just aren't civilised are those old dagos, or are they the wops, I can never remember. Important thing is not to hang around with them too long or you'll start having feta instead of cheddar in your sandwich, eh what!

You return!

Dagos and wops are slurs for Italians, not Greeks. I should know.

The word you want is "wog".

But he's a Greek who lived almost all of his life in Britain.

Bloody immigrants, coming over 'ere, taking our queens...

Blame Greece for that. They thought it was a good idea to chuck their royalty out, practically dumping them on Britain.

Well his mother was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria! It was his father who was the Greek Prince.

Yeah, kinda invalidates any anti-Greek points.
