I listen to music in other languages, but I can understand why someone wouldn't. Some people really take a lot out of lyrics, so not understanding what the singer is speaking could take something away from that (yes I know you could probably find translations, but translations can take away from the poetry of lyrics.)

You just described me. I can listen to something just for the music but I never get as much out of it. The lyrics are part of the song and if I don't understand them, I don't enjoy the song as much. I'm the same way with songs whose lyrics I do understand but don't like.

When it comes to music, I listen to what I like as a whole and ignore the rest.

Yeah, this.
I can get around this by getting translations, if I actually like the music and am interested. I did for languages like Japanese or German.

But there are also two other aspects :
- language is part of the sound. There are languages that grate my ears, much as there are voices that annoy me. I won't listen to songs in those languages.
- I like to be able to sing along my favorite songs. I may enjoy the sound of them if I can't get a word, but if I can't learn the lyrics, I will play them less often and they'll never get in my top 10. And I'm not likely to go see the band in concert.
