Why are the POC princesses in the back

Why did you completely miss Tiana directly up front

Pocahontas is, but Mulan and Jasmine are the same size or even bigger than Aurora, Cinderella, and Snow White. And Tiana is... up front.

That being said Disney does have a habit of shoving the POC princesses in the back (mostly Mulan and Pocahontas, considering half the time they don't even acknowledge they're part of the line).

To be fair, I can kind of understand why they'd leave out Mulan and Pocahontas in a princesses list since neither of them are actually princesses (neither of them were born princesses, nor married a prince). There are plenty of other leading female characters that they leave out too because they're not princesses.

Not sure about this, though. Wasn't Pocahontas a chief's daughter? Meaning she was basically the equivalent of a princess?

The Powhattan tribe was a democracy, so she'd be more like a first kid.

If I recall the history correctly, she was understood as a princess by the Europeans -- at one point she was received by some European royalty, while her non-royal European husband had to wait outside.

Okay, actually, I'm sure that's what the thing I read said. I don't know whether the thing I read was accurate.

Augh, I had a whole reply written out but the computer ate it. Basically, yes, she was received in England as a 'princess,' but this was a claim put forth solely by the venture's backers in an attempt to drum up interest and support. The Powhatan tribal system wasn't really a democracy, but a complex chiefdom. Basically, the children of a current chief, even the paramount chief like her father, didn't have any kind of status, because power passed down the line within the same generation, instead of a successional system. So his brother inherited his power, not his children.

It has nothing to do with whether they're princesses or not and everything to do with the fact that they don't consider them as popular as the rest of the girls.

Mulan and Pocahontas are part of the official princess line. They just choose not to feature them as often because they deem them not as popular as the rest of the girls, which is a shame and which is honestly... kind of untrue in some cases.

Esmeralda, Jane, Megara, Kida, etc., despite their awesomeness and despite the fact that they deserve to be merchandised, are not part of the princess line.

Nice try, now if only you had tried to use something that was actually true to troll with. Considering that the PoC princesses aren't all the back with Tiana being on the row directly behind the most prominent character.

Awww, come on, Nonny, you can troll better than that.

How about: Why don't Disney ever include characters such as Maid Marian from Robin Hood? Damn speciesists! Won't somebody please think of the furries?

Or perhaps: Why do Disney only care about princesses anyway? It's like they're saying that women are only worth anything when they become royalty. They don't give a fuck about us peasant women!
